Direct-Pay Insurance Programs

If you don’t get health insurance from your employer, and you don’t qualify for any public insurance programs offered by New York State, you may have to join a direct-pay insurance program. To determine which options are best for you, you should first find out of if any organizations to which you belong have plans available for members at discounted rates. The New York State Insurance Department regulates direct-pay insurance plans. You can check the rates of all the HMOs in your county by clicking here. HMOs, or Health Maintenance Organizations require you to visit doctors from a pre-determined list.
